theladysnarkydame: (special snowflake!)

I'm throwing my hat in the ring, because I can't resist a good photo meme.  I'll just have to make sure that this week is not one of those weeks where i do the same thing more days than not . . .

ANYWAY. I have today and tomorrow off from work, so I was planning on sleeping obscenely late today.  Planning too.  But . . . okay, bit of background that some of you already know -- I live right next to a bar.  The building shares a wall with mine, actually.  Their deck is about a floor and a half below my windows.  Generally, this is not a problem -- I'm a night owl anyway, and they're not actually loud every night.  But last night, I was tired.  Like, reading in bed, checking the clock every five minutes to see if it was closing time yet, tired.  And at three o'clock, I put my Nook away, snuggle into the pillows and . . . the music is still thumping along.  Initially, I blamed my next door neighbors, because they do shit like that occasionally.  But no, the bar's sound system was still going!  They were definitely closed -- everybody was gone . . . except, I eventually noticed, for a couple of bartenders, or a bartender and her boyfriend, who were cleaning up.  So I roll my eyes and grumble back to bed, expecting they'd remember to turn the sound off when they were done.

Half an hour later, it's still going.

So I open a window and peer down, wondering if I'd have to like, go bang on the door or something to get them be considerate neighbors, and I see . . . the bartenders making out at the bar, wrapped around each other like drunken octopuses.  I am not in the mood for this crap, really.  I am TIRED. They could have full-on naked semi-public sex on the bar if they were so inclined, so long as they TURNED THE MUSIC DOWN.  I sent an angry email to the bar's email address, and was considering calling in a noise complaint (which, really, I'm a live and let live type. USUALLY I SWEAR).  Before I did that though, one of my other neighbors got just as fed up as I was and threw a couple of beer bottles out of their window.  The first one shattered and went apparently unnoticed, but the second bottle did the trick, and they finally (FINALLY) turned the sound down.  (I don't actually condone throwing bottles near people?  Because of glass.  But I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND THE SENTIMENT)

It was, at that point, just past four in the morning.  I dove into bed with something approaching bliss.

UNTIL

I turned the blinds the wrong way last night.  The sun woke me up before 9:30.  Which, okay, it's not that early for most folks?  But I was planning on sleeping till, say, noon.

See, my cat is wondering what I'm doing up!

After that, at least, the day went pretty well.  I had planned on getting my hair cut, but my salon is closed on Mondays (who knew), so I decided to use my salon money for new clothes instead.  \o/

Wondered around the apartment in my pajamas first, checking on the herb garden:  (baby herbs!  That I haven't killed yet!  And might actually use!  They are Italian Parsley, Oregano, and Basil)

Playing Scramble with Friends:

It looked like a beautiful day, despite the heat (and my dirty windows):

I wore my favorite socks, because why not:

and called up my mom for a shopping trip.  (I don't have a car, and she was bored.)

Picked up three dresses, a pair of shoes, and a couple of short cardigans for said dresses, all at Target (cheap clothes!  Suitable for work!).  I actually very rarely (almost never) wear dresses?  But I think this summer might be hideously hot, and the AC at work is erratic at best, so I caved.  And the shoes are a lot . . . frillier than I usually go for, but I loved the color, and they looked great with the dresses, so . . .

Stopped for lunch at McCoy's in Westport:

I am apparently on a salad kick (and it was too hot for a lot of food) -- so I had a nice ceasar salad and some fried mozzarella rounds (delicious):

Came home and decided that, although my salon is closed on Mondays, and I'd just spent most of my salon money anyways, I did rather desperately need to trim my bangs. So I did. They're kinda choppy now, but at least I can see without making this face anymore:

and they can fix them in a few weeks when I actually make it to the salon.  \o/
Had some chips and cheese for a snack as I lurked around Tumblr for a while. Also a Red Bull, because I was still super tired. Best cheese sauce:

That's Zoro, lurking in the corner.
Then I took a nap on the couch (see Bar Douchebags, above).
When I woke up I cleaned the apartment and cooked dinner (lots of food today!)
mushrooms, zucchini, asparagus, sweet peppers
the veggies tossed in jasmine rice, with grilled sockeye salmon and italian bread.  Glass of Malbec, cause why not.
Dessert!  Just a few spoonfuls, because they don't carry this flavor at my grocery store, and I try to make it last.
AND that's it.  I'll wonder around the internet for a while and then go to bed.

Tomorrow:  SLEEPING IN.  Working on my Remix!  Going for a Walk Possibly!
