Fuck Alzheimer's
Mar. 12th, 2015 09:52 pm I'm sure you've heard by now that Sir Terry Pratchett died today, surrounded by his family (with his cat asleep on his bed). I heard about it at work, illicitly browsing twitter on my phone during a rather boring stint at the register.
And then I spent the next several hours periodically tearing up, and trying to hide it, as I read reactions from those who knew him personally, and those, like me, who've only read his books.
It's weird, to be genuinely grieving over someone you only know by reputation and by word. It's weird, but I can't say it isn't a real thing.
The Discworld books changed the way I looked at the world, in very real ways. I can only hope that the mind that built that world came to rest at a time of his choosing, surrounded by love.
